Seller Fulfilled Prime is not a shipping setting. It is a six-day operating week with a weekly exam.

Amazon raised the delivery-speed thresholds again on July 6, 2026. The program requires weekend fulfillment, 93.5% on-time delivery, and performance is reviewed weekly — with three trial attempts per calendar year if you fail.

The figure this guide is about, drawn from the sources listed at the foot of the page.

Speed thresholds raised again on July 6, 2026

Key takeaways

  • Ongoing requirements: on-time delivery at or above 93.5%, valid tracking at or above 99%, pre-fulfillment cancellations under 0.5%, late shipments under 4% and order defect rate under 1%.
  • On July 6, 2026 Amazon raised delivery-speed coverage requirements: standard-size one-day from 30% to 40%, two-day from 70% to 75%, oversize one-day from 10% to 15%, extra-large two-day from 15% to 25%.
  • Weekend fulfillment is mandatory — one weekend operating day. Additional cost is $3 to $7 per order, and $10 to $18 on UPS and FedEx routes.
  • The trial runs four full performance weeks and requires at least 100 Prime trial packages shipped at full standards, with the Prime badge not displayed during it. Three attempts per calendar year.
  • Performance is reviewed weekly. Enforcement: a warning, then Prime offers disabled, then removal after three strikes on the same requirement.

Forty percent of your Prime page views have to show a one-day delivery date. That has been the standard-size rule since July 6, 2026, and it is the sentence to read before the pitch. The pitch for Seller Fulfilled Prime is the Prime badge without sending inventory to Amazon. That is accurate and it undersells what you are agreeing to. One analysis frames it correctly: SFP is less a shipping setting than an operating system for inventory, labour, carriers, customer promises and demand planning.

01The requirements

To pre-qualify, Amazon’s thresholds are more relaxed than the ongoing ones: at least 100 seller-fulfilled packages in the past 90 days, cancellation rate under 2.5%, valid tracking above 95%, late shipment under 4%, a domestic US shipping address and a Professional account.

The trial runs four full performance weeks, Sunday to Saturday, and requires shipping at least 100 Prime trial packages while meeting the full standards. The Prime badge is not displayed during the trial — so you need existing demand or a deliberate traffic plan to generate the volume.

Ongoing:

MetricRequirement
On-time delivery rate≥ 93.5%
Valid tracking rate≥ 99%
Pre-fulfillment cancel rate< 0.5%
Late shipment rate< 4%
Order defect rate< 1%
Handling timeZero-day — orders before your cut-off ship the same day
Weekend operationAt least one weekend day

Some practitioner guides list another metric alongside these — at least 100 Prime shipments monthly — and that competitive SFP sellers operate materially above the minimums, targeting 97%+ on-time delivery.

Note what changed in 2023 and why it matters. the relaunch replacing on-time shipment and Buy Shipping obligations with an on-time delivery requirement — shifting accountability from the moment you dispatch to the moment the carrier delivers. You are now accountable for something you do not control.

02The July 2026 increase

Amazon’s coverage thresholds effective July 6, 2026 (share of Prime customer page views showing the delivery date):

TierWasNow
Standard-size, one-day30%40%
Standard-size, two-day70%75%
Oversize, one-day10%15%
Extra-large, two-day15%25%

These are coverage percentages — the share of shoppers who see that delivery speed — not shipping performance. Which produces a failure mode worth understanding: you can ship every accepted order on time and still miss the speed requirement, because too many shoppers saw a slower date before ordering. Templates, cut-offs, inventory location and carrier coverage all shape the promise that is displayed.

a zip-code-level delivery promise tool planned for September 2026, and a temporary exclusion of weekend page views from speed-metric evaluation running May 31 to October 17, 2026. That exclusion does not remove the weekend fulfillment obligation — it is a grace period on the metric, not on the work.

03Weekend operations, which is the real cost

Amazon requires one weekend operating day: downloading Prime orders, packing them and getting them to a carrier.

Most sellers choose Saturday, because USPS delivers on Saturdays at no extra charge and weekend staffing is easier.

Cost, per 3PL and seller estimates:

RouteAdditional cost per order
Weekend operations, overall$3–$7
USPS routes$2–$4
UPS and FedEx routes$10–$18

And the coverage problem. 3PL network operators estimate a single location covers only 30% to 40% of the country for two-day ground on weekends, and recommends at least two warehouses, ideally four to six. Against the July increase to 75% two-day coverage on standard size, that is the constraint that decides whether SFP is achievable at all.

A 3PL can do this, but reporting is clear the Prime badge attaches to your seller account rather than the provider: if the 3PL misses deliveries, the failures count against you. Verify weekend capability and an SFP track record before committing.

04Enforcement

Weekly performance reviews, Sunday to Saturday. Email warning on a first failure, Prime offers disabled on a second, enrollment revoked after three strikes on the same requirement. Quarterly reviews may raise thresholds, with changes announced at least 45 days ahead — and the trend points toward stricter requirements.

Three trial attempts per calendar year, introduced June 29, 2025. There are also restricted graduation periods before major sales events: pass during one and the badge appears only after the event ends.

Reporting names the best 2026 trial windows as January to early June and August to mid-October, with late Q3 and Q4 high-risk — either blocking graduation or consuming an attempt when operational pressure is highest.

05What actually fails the trial

Two causes come up repeatedly:

A single carrier delay. At low trial volume, one missed delivery can sink the percentage. The recommendation is to run materially above the minimum shipment requirement so no single failure dominates.

Buy Shipping percentage. sellers failing by using third-party label-buying tools instead of Amazon Buy Shipping. Buy Shipping and Shipping Settings Automation are improving delivery accuracy and providing protection on certain on-time metrics when used correctly.

And a third that is entirely avoidable: running out of stock during the trial. It forces a choice between cancelling — which destroys your cancellation rate — and shipping late, which destroys on-time delivery. One recommendation is at least 45 days of inventory on every enrolled SKU before applying.

06Is it worth it

Against FBA, the case for SFP is the Prime badge on products where FBA fees do not work — typically heavy, bulky, slow-moving or high-return items.

Against that: weekend operations at $3 to $7 per order, multiple warehouse locations, weekly performance exposure, and accountability for carrier performance you do not control.

One useful feature few sellers use: Prime order volume management, which lets you set daily capacity limits rather than accepting unlimited Prime orders. For a warehouse near its limit, that protects the metrics that keep you in the program.

The honest test is this: not whether the Prime badge would help, but whether each SKU can support fast free delivery at a reliable contribution margin. That is a per-SKU calculation, and the weekend surcharge belongs in it.

Before you enroll in the trial, pull thirty days of your own shipments and mark each one that would have shown a one-day date to the buyer. If the count is under 40%, the trial will tell you the same thing in four weeks — at the cost of the weekends.

Frequently asked

What are the SFP requirements in 2026?

On-time delivery at or above 93.5%, valid tracking at or above 99%, pre-fulfillment cancellations under 0.5%, late shipment under 4%, order defect rate under 1%, zero-day handling, and at least one weekend operating day.

What changed on July 6, 2026?

Delivery-speed coverage thresholds rose: standard-size one-day from 30% to 40%, two-day from 70% to 75%, oversize one-day from 10% to 15%, and extra-large two-day from 15% to 25%.

Do I have to work weekends?

Yes — one weekend day is mandatory. Additional cost is $3 to $7 per order overall, $2 to $4 on USPS routes and $10 to $18 on UPS and FedEx. A temporary exclusion of weekend page views from speed metrics runs to October 17, 2026 but does not remove the obligation.

How does the trial work?

Four full performance weeks, Sunday to Saturday, shipping at least 100 Prime trial packages at full standards, with the Prime badge not displayed. Three attempts per calendar year, and restricted graduation periods before major sales events.

Why do sellers fail the trial?

Most commonly a single carrier delay at low volume sinking the on-time percentage, or Buy Shipping percentage from using third-party label tools. Stocking out during the trial is the avoidable third cause.

Can a 3PL run SFP for me?

Yes, if it meets the same standards including weekend fulfillment. But the Prime badge attaches to your seller account — the 3PL's missed deliveries count against your metrics, not theirs.
