The two routes a figure can take onto this site

There are two, and no third.

1. A primary source, cited with its retrieval date

Marketplace documentation, the platform's own announcements, government and customs publications. These are linked in the sources block at the foot of the article, each with the date it was retrieved. If a claim is not supportable from a source we can link to, it does not appear.

2. First-party operational data, with the period stated

Figures drawn from operations the author worked on directly. Where such a figure appears, it is labeled as first-party and the period it covers is stated on the page. Client, employer and partner data is never published, in any form, aggregated or otherwise.

As of 8 August 2026, the published guides are sourced under the first route. They are compiled and verified against primary and secondary sources, with every citation dated. Where first-party operational figures are added, they will carry the label and the period. We would rather say this plainly than let a byline imply something the article does not contain.

Secondary sources, and how they are labeled

Vendor blogs, agency analyzes and rate cards are used, because they frequently surface details the platform documentation buries. They are used with two rules attached.

• The publisher is named in the source list. If a figure comes from a company that sells reimbursement recovery, repricing or fee software, that is stated. A commercial interest in a number being large does not make it wrong, but the reader is entitled to know it exists.
• Disagreements are resolved at the primary source, not recorded as a spread. When two secondary sources give different values for a fee the platform publishes, we go to the platform and print that figure. Only where the platform publishes no figure — Buy Box tolerances, advertising benchmarks, buyer behavior — do we show the estimates side by side, labeled as estimates, with each publisher named. An earlier version of this page treated the spread itself as the finding; the September 2026 audit showed that practice let wrong figures survive as long as a second source repeated them.

Dates

Every rate, threshold and percentage on this site carries the date it was checked. Every article carries a published date and, where it has been revised, a modified date. A fee figure without a date is not a fact, it is a rumor with a decimal point, and it does not get published here.

The September 2026 audit

In September 2026 every published guide was re-audited against primary sources under a written protocol: each numerical claim listed, traced to the platform or regulator, and either sourced, labeled as an estimate, or removed. Figures that turned out to be wrong are logged on the corrections page with what was published, what replaced it and why. One vendor publication was found to have supplied several fabricated figures and is no longer cited as a source for any rate.

Illustrative figures

Some worked examples use illustrative fulfillment, freight or storage figures to demonstrate the shape of a calculation rather than to quote a rate card. Those are labeled illustrative in the sentence that introduces them, and the reader is told to substitute their own. They are never presented as quoted rates.

Independence

• No sponsored posts, no paid placement, no pre-publication review by any vendor or marketplace.
• Advertising is served programmatically. Advertisers have no visibility into or influence over what is written.
• Where the publisher sells a product related to a page's subject, that interest is disclosed on the page.
• No commercial relationship is a scoring or ranking input.

Use of AI tools

Drafting and editing tools are used in producing this site, as they are at most publications now. They are not a source. No figure, date or claim reaches publication because a model produced it: every one is checked against the linked source by the author before the page goes live, and the source link is published so you can check it too.

We state this because the alternative — saying nothing and hoping — is the position taken by a large share of this subject's content, and it is not a position we want to share.

Corrections

Errors are corrected in place with a dated note on the article and logged on the corrections page. Nothing is edited silently. If you find a wrong figure, send it and its source to contact@fbatactics.com.

What is not here
